Blitzkrieg
When
it comes to Indian Mc's one name stands above the rest,
Blitzkrieg. This young mc /
entrepreneur has single handedly created an underground
buzz from Toronto to India. In 2002, Tony "Blitzkrieg"
Sidhu and Sunny "Da-coz" Singh joined musical forces to
create Twenty2K Entertainment, a collaboration of Asian
Empire Records and Hustle Beats. Together, the two
companies offer a forum for South Asian artists to gain
passage into mainstream audiences through
pavement-pounding distribution and promotion.
The name, Twenty2K Entertainment, stems from the gold
worn by much of the South Asian community. "Gold is made
up of different elements," Sidhu says, "and we're all
the different elements that come together to make
Twenty2K."
Those elements include Sidhu, a rapper who's worked with
Mentor Kolektiv and Tigerstyle, and Singh, a producer /
graphic designer. The two are working together to prove
that South Asians can deliver pure hip-hop and serve as
examples for others in the community who have similar
goals. "We want to pioneer the whole urban South Asian
scene from clothing and music to movies and design,"
Sidhu says. "When we were growing up we had no one to
look up to. There were no South Asians in any form of
entertainment. We want to set the framework for the
future generation and provide inspiration."
