Beats Twin
Beats (formerly known as ‘The Twinz’) have been heavily
involved with the DJ scene since 1998, playing
predominantly Bhangra music. Steadily they have
established themselves as professional DJs and are now
playing at both the national and international level.
The Twins went on to integrate their DJ expertise into
the roadshow market, namely Sounds of Punjab; they
formed in 2002 and what started as a hobby has now
become a huge success in such a short time.
After being involved with bhangra music since a young
age, The Twins became interested in the production
aspect of it; they began with bedroom mixes, which later
progressed into more complex remixes and gained them a
lot of interest in the underground scene.
They put together a demo tape and later signed a
management deal with DJ Stin. Stin became a mentor to
the twins and 2 years later they featured on a remix of
‘Tin Cheeja’ which they co-produced with Dr Zeus on the
album ‘The Street Remixes’. Soon after the release of
the track, they were contacted by VIP records who then
signed them.
“Our main aim is to promote Punjabi music and culture in
its various forms. Ultimately we want Bhangra music to
be recognised globally as a music genre in itself, not
just as a sub-category under World music”.
