Kulvinder Singh Johal first arrived in the UK in 1981, having been born and brought up in Panjab, in the district of Jallandhar, he quickly settled down in the city of Derby.

Having been brought up during the golden era in Panjabi folk music, Kulvinder Singh Johal attributes his love for music and inspirations as some of the true legends in Panjabi music. The celebrated names of Kuldip Manak, Surinder Shinda, Mohd. Saddiq, Lal Chand Yamla Jatt, Ranjit Kaur, Narinder Biba all contributed to Kulvinder Singh Johals musical upbringing, however he places Dilshaad Akhtar as his all time favourite singer.

Kulvinder Singh Johal was first introduced to the music scene on the critically acclaimed album by The Specialist and Tru-Skool titled ‘Word Is Born’ (Saibaa Dha Khath, Moohoo Boldhi, Maame Dhe Poth and Dhullah), Kulvinder Singh Johal’s reputation as one of the most ferocious vocalists in the UK Asian Music scene rapidly grew.

Features on ‘Repazent’, ‘Raw As Folk’, Pure Desi Vol 3 and on the Immortal Productions ‘Shaheedi’ series (Shaheedi 400, Panj) further cemented Kulvinder Singh Johal as one of the most powerful vocalists in the bhangra industry. Kulvinder Singh Johal saw his music extend beyond boundaries when he teamed up with Panjabi MC for ‘The Land of Five Rivers’. The single was used by WWE (World Wrestling Entertainment) as the theme tune for their Panjabi wrestling superstar ‘The Great Khali’, being played to millions of people across the globe.

Having teamed up with Sukhjit Singh Olk aka Tru Skool, Kulvinder Singh Johal has been carefully preparing his debut solo release. Alongside Tru Skool, who has produced three singles on the album, Kulvinder Singh Johal worked closely with the highly rated Kaos Productions, who have produced seven songs.

Johal Boliyan’ also sees the introduction of a UK Born female vocalist by the name of Raman Aujla who along with JK is another student of Tru Skool. Currently studying as a Law Student, Raman Aujla has spent years under the guidance of Tru Skool preparing meticulously for her first foray into music. Having teamed up with Kulvinder Singh Johal on ‘Johal Boliyan’, Raman Aujla is set to leave her own distinct mark on the scene.

The single, a pure Panjabi folk duet has been produced by Tru Skool and features his charismatic hip-hop stamp finely blended with authentic folk sounds, deriving from the influences of Kulvinder Singh Johal. The ‘Johal Boliyan’ is set to deliver another certified anthem from the Derby based producer, to add to his already large collection of hits.

The video for the single has been shot and is ready to hit the airwaves soon, the family friendly video features a colourful mela backdrop alongside a more contemporary setting to showcase the diverse sounds delivered on the single.
