“Music is what we need socially,
social life is important for humans,” PJD.
From Leicester, PJD Chan has been giving people the
reason to party; his road shows are second to none. His
new album ‘Rumours’ out on VIP Records Ltd should have
people talking and listening for years. Up to this point
in time it’s been a diverse journey which has introduced
him to the biggest names in Bhangra and dance music.
In the 90’s If you were a teacher in the East Midlands
and wondered where half your class was on a Friday
afternoon, you would have found them at a PJD Day timer.
The PJD was a pioneer of the Day timers and were a great
success with Bhangra fans.
The successes of the first gigs, fed his passion to
perform and develop his skills. For some time, he was
PMC’s DJ and remixer and traveled the world with his
deck skills. A natural progression from touring was
events promotion. He held gigs at M.G.M (Notts) and Pink
Coconut (Derby). This meant organizing the big names
from; Bhangra- Jungle and garage- Hip Hop. He brought
together, the likes of Jazzy B- Mickey Finn, Tim
Westwood-Surinder Shinda, Binderakhia- Dream team, and
from Kuldip Manak- Artful Dodger.
The Release of the Bhangra Garage album ‘AWOL’ gave him
the award for Best New Comer in the UK DJ Awards and was
involved with Dru Hill, Sisqo, Sean Paul and DMX gigs.
He has been the DJ for the Kray Twinz on their official
tour. This experience took him to new heights and a deep
respect for the Twinz, as there work appeals to a wide
audience and all races.
As a youth, his influence were on an old skool desi tip,
which included; Kuldip Manak, A.S Kang and Surinder
Shinda. Hip Hop was a major influence at school, he had
a close friendship with DJ Flo (2Funky) they influenced
each other with their music minds; DJ Outlaw has also
influenced PJD chan with old skool Drum and Bass, UK
grime and underground garage.
PJD is bringing all his experience and influences to his
new album ‘Rumours’. He is not shy in coming forward and
has the belief and skill to take the Bhangra music scene
by storm.
